- Your people are your most valuable asset, ensuring that they return to work and are able to contribute fully is mutually beneficial.
- Check out any insurance you hold on your employee's behalf, ie death in service benefit. (An insurance that is paid to your next of kin if your employee dies during their employment). You must notify the insurance company or the policy will be void.
- Check the private health insurance you hold on your employee's behalf. You must notify the insurance company or the policy will be void.
- Think about how you can make your employees return to work as smooth as possible.
- Contact your employee regularly at agreed intervals to keep them up to date, which makes returning to work easier. Ask them what they prefer. They may well prefer not to be contacted. This is no reflection on you or the organisation.
- Be aware that this employee will feel very different at different times and has continually to cope with all number of emotions sometimes simultaneously. This experience is hard to explain and affects everyone differently.
